PEA was started by a publisher who looked at all aspects of the publishing industry and recognized a need to take action to eliminate non-sustainable practices so that publishers could do more of what love to do, make books. In saving the earth, we can also save money.
From editorial submission and management, to book production and manufacturing, to sales, marketing and distribution, there are so many simple fixes that we can all embrace and share with each other. When it comes to saving the earth, one thing is certain: we all need to work together to make it happen. There is no competitive advantage in keeping helpful ideas to ourselves. As PEA publishers discover solutions, we agree to share our knowledge, and technology openly and freely.
We share this information through our blog, our e-newsletter, and through industry events, initiatives, and workshops.
We communicate our commitment through our unique symbols we have created to provide a quick way for readers and buyers to identify earth-friendly practices.

- Recycled Content: Part or all of the content of the paper used in the manufacturing of the book is made up of recycled content.
- Sustainable Forestry: The paper used in the manufacturing of the book comes from forests sustainably managed.
- Earth-Friendly Printing: Production processes used in the manufacturing of the book are compliant with earth-friendly guidelines.
- Cause Supporting: Some or all of the proceeds goes to support a kubu.orgtm certified non-profit cause, foundation, charity, or initiative.
